IJMB & NAGCE |
IJMB (Interim Joint Matriculation Board)
is an Advanced Level program
supervised and moderated by Ahmadu
Bello University. This programme
allows successful students to gain
admissions into 200 Level in any Nigerian
university of their choice. This
programme runs for the period of 9 months.
IJMB is not for the brainee or
brilliant students but for the determined heart
who is ready to sacrificed time and
energy with his/her books, it is going to
be success all the way. While i don’t
want to make jest of the exam, i must
say that the exam is not that
difficult as being portrayed by many people, is
just that you need to sit tight to
pass the IJMB exam. I must tell you this, i
have seen a student who started on
October while the exam was going to be
January in 2009, and he scored 14
points, a science student for that matter.
So all it needs is determination,
focus and your sacrifice.
Lecturers are very important, that’s
why we make sure all our lecturers are
experienced lecturers and also
examiners during the final examination. At
Great Aodac College Of Advance
Studies, we promise you the best because we offer the best.
IJMB will allowed you to choose three
courses/subjects that are related to
what you want to study in the
University of your Choice. The highest point
for each course is five (5) points,
which is denoted by A. That is, all the
three courses will have fifteen (15)
points in total, with an addition of one
(1). If in the three courses/subjects
you don’t have F (fail) which stands for
0 points. Making a total of sixteen
points (16) all together.
Points Been Given in IJMB
courses/subjects.
A = 5 points
B = 4 points
C = 3 points
D = 2 points
E = 1 points
F = 0 points
For Admission consideration into any
University using IJMB exam you must
score a minimum of 5 points in total
i.e EDE stands for (1+2+1) which is five
(5) points.
Why IJMB Is Better Than Other
Programs.
It is worthy to notes, that before
JAMB/UTME come into existence, IJMB
was the only criteria used to gain
admission then, ask many of our professors
they will confirm it to you. The same
problem facing other sectors in Nigeria
have huge effect on Nigeria education
sector, hence, few people are aware
of IJMB Examination.
Advantages of IJMB over JAMB (UTME)
and Other Programs.
1. The result takes a whopping of 7
years to expire unlike your JAMB
that is only for a Year.
2. It can be used over and over again.
3. You can run it and also apply for
JAMB if you wish to kill two birds
with a stone,
4. You will have higher PGD or CGPA
in your university as it is going to
be divided by 3 Years not four years
unlike others who used JAMB.
5. You have more advantages of being
admitted as compared to those
using JAMB since IJMB students are
very few in ratio.
6. I have come across many educated
parents who are only interested
in the knowledge and impart and not
even the result. This is because
IJMB gives you a foundation and you
will acquire knowledge which will
help you in the university, your
Career and also in life. This is what is
seen in more advance countries, you
just have to study a year with
Advanced program before gaining
admission fully to university of your
choice.

ADMISSION ISSUES IN NIGERIAN TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS
|
Thousands of candidates apply and sit for UTME yearly but only about
20% are successful in securing admission into Nigerian universities. Most of
the candidates reapply in subsequent years thereby worsening the admission
burden in Nigerian universities. Even for those who come off successfully with
over 200 score in UTME but who are unable to secure admission, the great
dilemma is that UTME result is only valid for one (1) year.
